Doug,
Love the pictures and can't wait to check out your page to see what's new.
I didn't get to see much of the real Viet Nam in 1970-71. Hope to get the chance one day.

i know I'm looking at Viet Nam, but ohhh how it takes me back to Thailand. Great post. I absolutely loved the picture of the man doing "the squat". I remember going to a company function and being in that position, when a fellow employee approached me and asked me where I learned that. It's such a comfortable position. I feel humid just looking at the rice fields. Believe me, that's hard to do in Denver. Enjoy!

Around Hue you see much more modern rice fields with power equipment for water movement and ground plowing. When you move up to Dong Ha it is common to see ladies irrigating the fields by hand with leather buckets on ropes. The water buffalo has not yet been replaced with power equipment. I love the scenes around the rice fields. Near Dong Ha these traditions are thousands of years old.
